Goals & Strategy

Goals that can be steered.

Everything in Vlera OS begins with what your business wants to achieve. Baseline, current state and target produce the gap, the constraints produce a strategy, and together they produce the order in which action is taken.

  1. TargetSet by you, not prescribed by Vlera OS.
  2. GapThe distance between the current state and the target. It shows where action makes the biggest difference.
  3. CurrentWhere the business stands now. Without a measurement the value is estimated or unknown, never simply zero.
  4. BaselineThe value from which progress is measured. It is kept as the point of reference.

From bottom to top: baseline, current state, gap, target.

Reference frame

The goal is not a field in the system. It is its reference frame.

Understanding, prioritising and acting are measured against it, not against the number of tasks done.

More recurring orders

  • UnderstandKnowledge is weighted by what the goal requires.
  • PrioritiseA priority counts when it closes the gap to the goal.
  • ActExecution and outcome are read against the goal: has it moved?

Example for illustration, not a customer statement

A goal becomes steerable once baseline, current state and target are known.

  1. BaselineThe value from which progress is measured. It is kept as the point of reference.Known
  2. Current stateWhere the business stands now. Without a measurement the value is estimated or unknown, never simply zero.Estimated
  3. TargetSet by you, not prescribed by Vlera OS.Known
  4. GapThe distance between the current state and the target. It shows where action makes the biggest difference.

Unknown is not zero: where a value is missing, the gap stays open and the knowledge is clarified first.

Context

The same goal means something different in every business.

A goal is read in the context of the business. Language, market, region, currency and time zone belong to the business, not to Vlera OS.

  1. Business model and offersHow the business earns its income and what it offers.
  2. Markets, regions and languagesWhere the business operates and in which language it speaks to its market.
  3. Capacity and resourcesWhat the business can carry without quality suffering.
  4. Rules and assumptionsWhat you have set and what Vlera OS assumes for as long as it is not evidenced.

Frame

Constraints limit the path, not the goal.

Several goals, one main goal, clear limits: where a goal exceeds the frame, the conflict becomes visible.

Example view, not a customer statement

  1. Primary goalGrow in a financially healthy way
  2. Rank 2More recurring orders
  3. Rank 3Keep existing customers

ConstraintCapacityA limit, not a goal: it sets how much growth the business can carry.

  • Frame: this much is sustainable
  • Above the range
  • Growth goal

Vlera OS showsThe conflict, its cause and which goals are involved.

You decideWhich goal comes first, what is put back and what has to be adjusted.

You set the ranking. Vlera OS does not reorder it on its own.

Strategy

The gap becomes an order of action.

Strategy here is not a document but an answer: where to act first so that the gap gets smaller without breaking the constraints.

  1. Read the gapWhich goal has the largest distance and the greatest lever?
  2. Respect the constraintsCapacity, economics and your guidelines limit what makes sense.
  3. Choose the orderA few priorities form the strategy that becomes visible in the Command Center.

Every priority leads back to the goal

  1. Follow up current enquiriescloses the gap to: More recurring orders
  2. Check the price range of offer Acloses the gap to: More recurring orders
  3. Watch demand for offer Bcloses the gap to: More recurring orders

Progress

Progress is the gap getting smaller.

What counts is not the number of completed tasks but the change between baseline, current state and target.

  • From measured valuesProgress is read from measured values, not from intentions.
  • With open pointsWhere a value is missing, it says so instead of presenting an estimate as fact.
  • What is, what changesIt shows the current state and how it has changed, not an expectation.

The goal remains the yardstick by which every priority is measured.

Goals change

Goals may change as reality changes.

When the market, capacity or your rules change, you adjust the target, the order or the frame. The baseline stays as a reference point, and the change remains traceable in the Business Memory.
